The Dougall Cup
The Dougall Cup was donated to BBQ on the Bow by co-founders Carol and Sandy Dougall.
The cup was initially awarded to the top Canadian team. American teams had been competing at BBQ on the Bow and winning. They viewed our competition as “easy pickings.” A quick and easy way to get an invitation to the prestigious American competitions.
The Dougall Cup was initiated to encourage Canadian teams to learn from their more experienced American brethren and become more competitive. Canadian teams competed, learned and succeeded as never before.
Now, Canadian teams are competitive wherever they compete, so much so that in 2003 the Dougall Cup began to be awarded to the Reserve Grand Champion (i.e., second place finisher) at BBQ on the Bow.
